Kampot (17-18 September)

After my classes on Saturday, I hired a 250cc motorbike and met up with Torbin (part of the German crew), in preparation for heading to Kampot. We headed south, as I thought that was the right direction to go. We went along Highway 2 for longer than we should have, but it was an easy turn to get onto Highway 3, which we should have been on. We got to Kampot at about 6pm, barely before nightfall. Unfortunately Lydia had aggravated her kidney stones (during a rough moto ride) into a kidney infection, causing a high fever… I met the folk staying at Simone‘s place, then most of the rest of the night was taking care of Lydia, while the rest of them went out for dinner.

Sunday – I hadn’t had a great deal of sleep (due to nurse duties during the night), so I was feeling fairly tired. Had a wonderful breakfast with the people staying at Simone’s: baguettes, cheese, spreads and coffee. After breakfast we went to the pretty coastal town of Kep. After a wet ride, we had lunch under the touristy huts, consisting of coconuts (to drink, then eat), various delicious seafood dishes and soups. Afternoon tea was at a gorgeous guesthouse called ‘The Verandah’ (looks amazing, definitely recommended). The single remaining Crème Brulee was apparently wonderful!
